| This year's Block of the Month will be a series of "Method" blocks, rather than a book pattern. Each month you'll receive the name of the "Method" block. The block patterns are available at the Quilters' Cache website (www.quilterscache.com). We'll be doing a total of seven blocks. You will work on a block each month from now through April. Each "block" is due the following month. Since the blocks are intended to teach a new method, each member can decide what size she wants to make them. The end result will not be a quilt/wall hanging unless you decide to make the blocks the same size and put them together. You may also choose to use a method to create a larger piece (such as a table runner). First Method Block - Planned Patchhood -- Go to quilterscache.com to get block information. -- Select "Quilt Blocks Galore Free Quilt Block Patterns" from the dropdown box in the middle of the page. --This will take you to the Quilter Blocks page. Select "N - R" from the alphabetized List of Quilts on the left side of the web page. Scroll down until you find the listing for Planned Patchhood. -- Click on the link (http://www.quilterscache.com/P/PlannedPatchhoodBlock.html) to bring up the block's page with a description, illustrations and design suggestions, which you can print out. -- Design, create and bring your completed block to the next meeting. Second Method Block - Raggedy Bricks Check out "How to Speed Piece Nine Patches" Third Method Block - Speed Piecing Half Square Triangles --Go to how-to's section at quilterscache.com. --Follow link for how to piece half square triangles --Make a block with half square triangles |
