Quinobequin Quilters Guild
Comfort Quilts
Quinobequin Quilters is committed to offering comfort to those in need through our Comfort Quilt project. Either together or individually, members create colorful quilts designed to bring warmth to the recipients. One guild meeting each year is devoted to working on Comfort Quilts. Other daytime gatherings are occasionally scheduled at a member's home to help keep the momentum going the rest of the year. Until further notice those meetings are virtual:
Please check out the calendar for a list of (nearly) bi-weekly Wednesday afternoon Zoom meetings for working on Comfort Quilts with Carol.
We are currently making Comfort Quilts for Project Linus.
In January 2021 the guild contributed quilts through Project Linus to three worthy charities. A total of 33 quilts were divided between Project Hope Boston (family homeless shelter) and the Boston Police’s drive by Sergeant Detective McLaughlin for the children of Boston’s homicide victims. An additional eight quilts were delivered to Fisher House for families of veterans treated at the West Roxbury VA Hospital.
In recent years, quilts were given to the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families' "Special Kids Special Care" program which provides quilts to foster children with medical problems. These quilts are often the only possessions they have.
Other recipients have included Sisters of Charity, the Winter Warmth project, the Sharing Foundation's Roteang Orphanage in Cambodia, and the Wayside Hospice in Wayland.
The photos below are of a few comfort quilts we have made.
