Comfort Quilts

Comfort Quilts is an on-going activity group of the Quinobequin Quilters Guild. Our commitment to the guild is to donate some of our most beautiful quilts to charity. Members, working alone or in groups, find inspiration from materials provided by the guild, and most often from their own stash of fabrics to create quilts for donation. We create quilts in a range of sizes and styles – from baby blankets to lap and throw sizes for children, teens, and adults.

Each year, the guild devotes a meeting night for members to work together to complete donation quilts. The comfort quilt coordinators also try to organize at least one off-site “work day/fun day” event.

During the 2024-2025 guild year:
Our guild donated 60 beautiful quilts and 39 pillowcases to Project Linus. This organization’s primary recipients are babies, children, and teens undergoing treatment in hospitals; however, Project Linus also donates to other needy recipients. In conjunction with Newbridge on the Charles, the guild also donated 23 quilts to the Women’s Lunch Place shelter for homeless women.

Our goal for the 2025-2026 guild year:
For our members to help finish the numerous UFOs that await completion. These UFOs include kits of blocks that are ready to be sewn together to make a completed topper, and many finished toppers that are ready for pinning, quilting, and binding.
Please note that until the backlog is caught-up, we will not be accepting any unfinished quilts. We will happily accept all complete quilts that are ready for turnover. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause; however, we cannot continue to store UFOs.
Also, we ask that you attach the QQ and Project Linus labels to the finished quilt, and launder using unscented detergent so quilts will be ready for use in a hospital setting.
